Rocky Pirrone's "Big John Mazmanian" '41 Willys Gasser Tribute

For those of you who don’t know, Rocky Pirrone is a die-hard “Gasser” guy. At this year’s NHRA U.S. Nationals he had 4 of the 12 that competed for a Wally - this is one of those 4! This is a tribute car to the original legendary gasser campaigned in the 60’s that was driven by Bones Balogh. Bones actually drive this tribute car 50 years later at both the U.S. Nationals and the California Hot Rod Reunion. We could not have been happier to shoot this super cool, old-school drag car. Keep your eyes peeled for this car on the strip at a nostalgia race near you in 2013!

We Don't ONLY Shoot Hot Rods!

Here’s one we wanted to share because we wanted to show people that we don’t only shoot custom cars. This is Kathy Phillips 2007 Bentley Continental GT Convertible and it is one very cool ride. With a 660 horsepower V-12 engine, this thing gets up and goes! And with all the genuine leather, real wood grain trim, and technology out the wazoo… it’s the ultimate in comfort AND style. So, whether you’ve got an exotic car, a restored tractor, or a surplus tank - we can shoot it in the finest fashion for you! It’ll be interesting to see what vehicles come out of the wood work now!?!

We Did It!!!

We’ve finally accomplished one of our ultimate goals - we got a feature published in Hot Rod Magazine! Thanks to our customer, Chris Glasgow, for having a really cool and different car that was interesting enough to warrant being published. Also, thanks to Jesse Kiser at Hot Rod Magazine for working with us on getting this done. We have learned tons about how to get our clients vehicles published in national magazines, and although we can never promise anything, we do offer this as a service.

Chris Glasgow's '64 Olds Cutlass

We had an absolute blast shooting this really cool car for a really cool owner. Chris Glasgow of Charleston, South Carolina, found us on the internet and thought our work was the best he’d ever seen. He hadn’t cut any corners on rebuilding his dad’s Olds and he wanted to have the best possible pictures of the car, so made an appointment with Hot Rod Portraits. We lined up a couple of Central PA’s hottest girls and it was ON! This thing was super subtle but when you notice things like the fuel-injected 455 Olds big-block, the awesome double hood setup, embossed Olds log under the hood and the slick custom interior you know it’s a very special car. Thanks for bringing us your baby, Chris!

The "Essence" of a 67' Firebird

Hot Rod Portraits is proud to show you Sam and Bonnie Lynn’s 67' Firebird “Essence”. This is possibly the nicest and coolest Firebird we’ve ever seen. This car has been touring the indoor car show circuit for the last year winning awards everywhere! It is an absolutely stunning piece and we think this represents our best work to date! We hope you agree.

HRP at the Inaugural Sturgis Road Show

We got to shoot the 2011 Sturgis Road Show bike - then were very honored to be invited to the show as a vendor. We set up our remote studio at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg and shot babes on bikes all weekend. Hey, tough gig but somebody has got to do it - and that somebody is me, baby. Me!

"Vanishing Point" 70' Challenger

And yet a third sweet ride from Rob Ida Concepts. This 70' Challenger is super cool - and fast. It's got a new school HEMI, custom interior, one-off wheels, credit card swipe actuated door poppers, this list goes on. I think it's kinda styled like a certain Chevelle I'm very familiar with - wonder if I may have been influencing some people??

National Champion 69' Boss 429 Mustang!

This is the second Boss 429 we shot for Tom Hernquist - known to us as “the red one”. This is a National award winning car and has been featured in magazines and on credit cards. Tom sold “the white one” we shot last year at the Barrett-Jackson auction. But he’s not selling this one, he’s keeping it for himself! Tom is an awesome guy and a very lucky man! He is in the process of restoring a 3rd Boss 429. Apparently the 3rd one is gonna be “the black one”. We can’t wait to shoot it too!

Russ Gillespie's '55 Chevy Pickup

This is my Dad’s truck which he has just recently overhauled. Dad went out to Bonneville for the 60th anniversary of Speed Week and that inspired this wild creation. I helped him design the two-tone paint scheme with flip-flop scallops. The wheels are actually 15" with 17” and 19” Full Moon’s mounted with Zeus buttons fastened to 15” moons underneath. We shot Dad’s truck earlier this year, I’m finally getting it up on the site. Check out the full gallery of images by clicking here. I also included his old showboard so you could see the before and after.

Rob Ida's Latest Works of Art!

We are extremely proud to present our photos of these two amazing custom street rods. Both of these cars have been just recently finished by Ida Automotive in Morganville, NJ. Rob Ida and his dad Bob have been building some of the most innovative, wild, immaculate, ultra-custom cars for decades - and both of these cars represent their best efforts. The 33’ Willys “Roaster” was completely built from scratch. Starting with a pile of sheet metal and some billet stock the artists at Rob Ida Concepts sculpted this masterpiece which features a hand formed body and fenders, removable top, one-off wheels with integrated custom brakes, tilt-away steering column, and a blown 600HP Cadillac NorthStar (which is notable because it, along with the tires, are the only things “store bought” on this car). There are truly too many things to list about this car and words don’t do it justice anyway, so check out the pics here.

This 37’ Chevy Coupe called “Black Opal” is a classy, low slung baggin, twin-turbo sportin’, custom dub rollin’ stunner that is bringin’ sexy back to street rodding in a big way! And I think our model friend Heather Childs helps with the “sexy” part for sure. But seriously, I love seeing street rods built by relatively young guys like Rob using modern components, with contemporary influences. Be sure to notice the sculpted fender accents, hand formed brass trim, one-off wheels, headlight and taillight treatments, motor through the hood, custom dash with billet gauge cluster, etc. Best thing you can do is check out these pics yourself here.

HRP "Poster Child" Feature Published

WOW! This one was huge. The kind of thing car guys dream of - seeing your own ride featured in a national car magazine is something that relatively few people get to experience. And let me tell you I couldn’t be happier to see my 69’ Chevelle featured in the Summer 2009 edition of “Chevelle” magazine. Special thanks to Nick Licata, editor of Camaro Performers and Chevelle magazines, for putting the great layout and story together using the photos from our studio. Chevelle magazine is a newsstand-only publication so go out and pick up a copy and check it out for yourself. Click here to see all the shots from this shoot.

BLAM! HRP Published In Rod & Custom

Here it is! Our first feature in a national magazine. And we are so pleased that it was in Rod & Custom, one of our personal favorite car mags. This is the July 2009 issue with Parke Bishop’s totally rad, Hilborn injected, V6 ’53 Chevy that we shot in our purpose-built automotive photo studio in Lancaster, PA. Parke Bishop has been building rad rides for 20 years (most recently under the BareBones Restyling name) and is starting a new shop called Street Visions in Elverson, PA. Pick up a copy of R&C and read all about this sweet piece. See all the finished shots by clicking here.

HRP Gets Internationally Published

HRP is proud to announce that our pictures of Terry Cook’s “Deco Liner” were published in a French hot rod magazine called “Nitro”. In issue #238, starting on page 48, you will find this amazing custom Lincoln Zephyr Sedan Delivery. You can see all the pictures from this photo shoot here, as well as many of our hot rod and motorcycle pictures that we shoot in our amazing automotive photography studio located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We are getting very connected with publishing companies and may be able to help you get your car published!

Rare 69' Boss 429 Mustang

Check out this rare and valuable piece. It’s Tom Hernquist’s 1969 Boss 429 Mustang but it could be yours. This car is being sold at the Barrett-Jackson Auction (Lot #1283) in Scottsdale, Arizona on Saturday, January 17th at 8:00pm. This car has a few special factoids. First of all it was never purchased new but rather dedicated as a drag car. Some research unearthed photos of the car on the track so Tom decided to reproduce the race decals. Check this monster out here - it won’t cost you anything to look!

Terry Cook's "Bugnotti"

We proudly present the pictures of Terry Cook's "Bugnotti". It's an Auburn Boat Tail Speedster inspired concoction, infused with a Bugotti grill and headlights, that makes for one very impressive final presentation. This car was designed by world renowned automotive designer Chip Foose and built by master metal beater (all though this car is fiberglass) Ramsey Mosier from Delaware. "Bugnotti" will be on tour all summer and eventually sold at auction. Get out your checkbooks! For details on where to see and/or buy this car check out decorides.com.

HRP's First Feature Bike

We just shot our first feature bike and here are the photos for you to savor and enjoy. It's Jim Adams Big Dog Mastif and it has been heavily customized. The paint job is beautifully done with a really cool theme. The "Evil Twin" was painted by Mark Brown from Darlington, MD. Check out some of his fantastic airbrush artwork on his website at markbrown-studio.net. We got our good friend and playboy model, Heather Childs, to pose on this beauty and the results are stunning.

Terry Cook's "Deco Liner"

We just got finished shooting this amazing vehicle. Terry debuted his new Zephyr Sedan Delivery June, 6th at the Street Rod Nationals East in York, PA, where it totally stole the show. You can see our pictorial coverage of the event on our web gallery by clicking here. He brought the car directly to HRP after the event and we spent 12 hours photographing this work of art. Terry has been selling Zephyr fiberglass bodies but now offers Zephyr Sedan Delivery bodies and built this car to show people what could be done. Learn more about Terry's business at decorides.com. Click here to see all the best pictures from this shoot.

Parke Bishop's 53' Chevy

Here's another really cool piece. We met Parke at the Ocean City Cruise in May of 08'. He and his 53' were on display in the DuPont Hot Hues booth. This car has some really slick tricks, like the Mercedes headlights, the combination of polished and brushed trim, the custom tail lights, and the straight six under the hood. Our friend Heather Childs posed for us and I'll think you'll agree that both are stunning. Check out all of the shots by clicking here.

HRP in Fine Living Lancaster Magazine

The current issue of Fine Living Lancaster Magazine just hit the streets here in LA PA with a nice advertorial spotlighting HRP. The owner of the magazine put together a shoot with several advertisers including a regional Ad Agency executive, Range Rover dealership, and Fashion Boutique. It was a pretty neat deal. Thanks to everyone involved. Check out ISSUE 6 in the issue archive at finelivinglancaster.com
